“Transform into a hippie.” Haha! That’s a good way of putting it.
Slowing down is hard, especially if you were used to living a fast-paced lifestyle before. But you don’t really haaave to slow down. It just makes things easier because it lessens the anxiety – which could be contributing to the painful spasms. This might help with that: https://www.flintrehab.com/2015/anxiety-after-stroke-a-different-approach/

And we’re publishing a new article on spasticity this Friday that might help too (in a less-hippie, more-scientific way). Hope this helps! 🙂

I used to work in a newsroom and my unique selling point was that I was faster than anyone else. I just can’t relax anymore, always thinking about what the next best step is. I try to remind myself to be in the present moment in stead of thinking about how wonderful everything is going to be a few years from now. I’ve noticed my painful spasms get worse when I envision the future. I’m desperately looking for something that can make me feel good NOW.
